House Remodel Edition 5: Steady Progress

We are now (we think?) almost halfway through our project. This particular week has been full of ups and downs, but I'm relieved to say we are going into the long holiday weekend with some real progress apparent around the house. Besides the new addition, there has been substantial work completed in other rooms of the house. An old non-functioning chimney was removed (a messy, messy job!), which opened up space in the basement and created space for our new laundry closet upstairs, seen framed out here:

Our downstairs entry room had a wall removed and a new coat closet built.

Plumbing has been going in throughout the house for our new bathroom and upstairs washer, and our new tub has arrived as well, so that has been exciting! 

As the weeks roll on, our household definition of "normal" continues to change. The ubiquitous layer of dust (on books, on canned goods, inside the printer, on ANY exposed surface!) really frustrates me, but I know that although this is the new normal at the moment, it won't be forever. We did host Liana's 5th birthday party at our house a few weekends ago with four of her close friends, and despite the house not being in great shape, it was definitely a success. The girls even got to draw on one of the walls, since it was going to be torn down the next day!

Here is a photo of the outside of the new addition, with roof on and windows installed - yay, no more worries of water seeping in! Only the big slider door still needs to be installed, but that will happen once the deck is built, which should start up next week.
