Big Week
This week marked a big one for both kids. Liana officially learned to
ride a two-wheeler without training wheels! We definitely credit her
time on the no-pedal balance bike for helping her develop a sense of balance, but she is
a determined little girl and picked up riding fairly quickly. She
still gets frustrated initially, but as a whole she's really got the knack of
it.
Leo's big milestone has been giving up the diapers! We cleared the schedule and dubbed the weekend Leo's Potty Weekend to be able to focus solely on him. We definitely hadn't consciously planned the timing this way, but Leo had been demonstrating early signs of potty training recently, so we decided to just go for it. The weather was on our side on Saturday, so he was able to run around outside bare-bottomed -- and we all enjoyed the chance to be out in the sun. Now on day 3, Leo has been doing really well with everything. He's had more successes than accidents and has enjoyed getting his special stickers and stamp, although those incentives seem to be phasing out already. I know we still have more work ahead of us - cleaning up more accidents and successfully going on longer outings - but we are proud of our guy and his progress so far. It sure has been cute seeing those bare buns :-)
Leo enjoys riding his squeaky tricyle, too!
Liana also successfully delivered her one line - "You can play hula hoop with us" - while performing the part of Mermaid (one of four) in her preschool ocean-themed play. And by "play" I mean, all three minutes of it. Short and sweet, right?! All the kids looked so happy and proud of themselves though, and it was fun to see Liana stand alongside her good friends.Leo's big milestone has been giving up the diapers! It really was such a BIG week for both your kids. I had such a huge smile on my face watching Liana zip around on her bike and you must be so proud. Leo does have a cute little bottom. Go Leo - you rock. Come show P and E how it's done. I think it's so cool that Liana and Lily got to share this play together. 3 minutes? Might be pushing it. :) Glad the weekend was a success. We missed you at ballet but any chance to minimize diapers - go for it. Go Maciukenas kids!
