House Remodel Edition 3: Progress

Well, it's now month two of construction - more tarps, more saws, more hammers. We’ve definitely entered the more intense and noisy part of the project, and I’m glad to have regularly scheduled activities with the kids during the week. Really thankful that Liana is in school five mornings a week, too. Typically, the crew works from 7:30-3:30, so at least dinner can usually be made in peace, though I probably shouldn’t jinx that! Each day is a little bit different, depending on the work the crew is doing, so it’s not always easy to plan ahead. I'm learning that go-with-the-flow is the name of the game now.

I captured some cute videos of Leo reacting to the construction noise. 

At this stage, a good amount of progress has been made - excavating, pouring retaining walls and footings, demolishing walls and beginning framing for the new addition. Some cool artifacts that have been unearthed during the process so far:

• Oregon Journal newspapers from Sept. 11 and 13, 1949. Couldn't believe the date! 
• As-yet unidentified ceramic item (maybe was used for electrical insulation?) 
• Hexagonal shaped turquoise blue Hermosa brand tile
• Ceramic part from an outdoor electrical conduit, that I re-purposed as a flower holder.
